Hello Hello!
It’s been a while! I’ve been having a little blogging break while I focus on other things, but I just couldn’t let Christmas go by without posting and recording a few memories!
I hope you’ve had a beautiful Christmas! Ours was lovely and also very exhausting! For any mums with a toddler reading this, I’m sure you’ll understand - lots of excitement paired with a very busy day and missing naps meant there were some very big emotions to deal with.
So while these photos can definitely paint the picture of “oh everyone’s happy”, just know that there are of course a lot of toddler tantrums and tears that went along with it too. I never want someone to look at my photos and fall into that comparison trap, because I just know how easy it is to do. Having said that, I do love how photos can capture all the many magic moments and help us focus on and remember these times, rather than focusing on the meltdowns and chaos that also accompany life with kiddies (and I definitely need these reminders at the moment, it has been a rather challenging week!!)
These are some photos I quickly snapped on Christmas morning and I’m so glad I made the effort because they really make me smile when I look back on them.
Mattteo’s first Christmas, and also the first year that Ruby actually kind of understood the whole Santa thing. While she wasn’t super into it, she was pretty pleased with her gifts - her favourites being the My Little Pony tutu and lollies!
Cute story I want to share for the memories -
A few weeks earlier we were in Target and came across this whole wall of tutus. She immediately made a bee-line for this My Little Pony one and kept picking it up, holding it up on her, looking in the mirror and then bringing it to me saying “I can please have this one mummy”. It was very sweet, but as she does have quite the collection of tutu’s already (thank you Grandma and Poh Poh) I told her we’d take a photo for Santa and hopefully he could get it for her for Christmas. It was funny because she kept saying to me “what if Santa gets the wrong one” and then pointing to the My Little Pony t-shirt above the tutu and saying he might get confused - she didn’t want the t-shirt, she wanted the tutu!! She’s only three but she definitely knows what she likes when it comes to fashion!
Her face totally lit up when she opened it saying “Santa got the one I wanted!!!” She was so excited :)
Anyway, thank you for reading if you got this far and wishing you a very Happy New Year! 2022 was a big one for me and I’m so excited for what 2023 will bring.
I’ve been slowly starting up my photography biz - Lauren Natalia Photography - where I’m focusing on families, maternity and newborn photography. I’ve been having so much fun with it, and I’m excited to share more about that here and create some more photography related blog posts soon.
I’m just now realising how my blog and my photography biz really do mesh together so well. This has been a beautiful space for me to record snippets of my life and memories for the past almost 10 years (whaaat!!!) and now I get the privilege of capturing and creating beautiful precious memories for other families. I was so lost (career wise) for such a long time and now I feel like things are all starting to make sense.
If you’re in Perth and ever interested in some family photos, I’d love for you to check out my portfolio or photography Instagram @laurennataliaphoto and get in touch if you like my style and feel like I’m the photographer for you! :)
Lots of Love
Lauren
