Hello and Welcome!
I’m Lauren! I’m a family and newborn photographer from sunny Perth, Western Australia and I’m obsessed with photographing love and preserving memories!
As a mum of two little ones myself, I know just how precious these early years are, but also how they can feel like a bit of a blur in all the craziness that is life with babies and toddlers!
I love being able to show you all the joy, the beauty and the everyday magic moments. The squishy cheek hugs, their little fingers wrapped around yours, the way they look at you like you are their whole world…
These days where some moments can be so exhausting and others are better than you ever dreamed of - they are precious, fleeting, and so worth capturing.
Photos are one of those things you will never regret. Of course you will love looking back on them in years to come, but they are also for you to enjoy right now.
For you to print and have on your walls as a visual reminder of all the love you share and how special this chapter of life is.
If you’re looking for natural, relaxed, emotion-filled photos (with a touch of romance), either in your own home or on location, it would be my absolute pleasure to work with you!
Let’s create some magic together!
Aside from my love of photographing families, I’ve also been blogging here since 2013…
…sharing snippets of my life as well as all my best tips, discoveries and honest thoughts on the topics of simple style, motherhood and mindset.
I’m a fashion lover, wannabe minimalist (who is also really sentimental), and personal development nerd who loves exploring ways to live a more vibrant and fulfilling life.
I hope this space can inspire you to find the magic in the everyday and create a life that feels truly beautiful to you.
Whether you’ve stumbled upon this page looking for a family photographer or you’re just wanting to feel a little less alone in motherhood, I’d love to connect with you!

Hyde Park is a very well loved photography location here in Perth, and autumn is definitely my favourite season to take photos there. I love all the the beautiful golden brown colours, and it is always so fun for the kiddies to play in the crunchy leaves!
I thought I would share a few photos I took of my own kiddies in Hyde Park last year, as they are some of my absolute faves. Throwing leaves is always a hit with the little ones, and pretty much guarantees some fun happy expressions!
Aside from the smiles and really sweet moments, I think another part of why I love these photos so much is because of the colour combinations. I love the pink and white against the autumn backdrop, and the soft colours really help to keep that “light and airy” style that you may have noticed I’m a fan of :p
I remember being pregnant and all the mum’s at my work telling me how fast the time goes when they are little, and looking back, having gone through the newborn phase twice now myself, I can safely say it really does fly. Those newborn days which can feel so hazy and blurry with sleep deprivation (and that sometimes - while you’re in it - feel like they stretch on forever) really do pass by in the blink of an eye.
In the midst of all the craziness that comes with adjusting to being new parents, getting photos taken can sometimes feel like a really heavy lift, but it’s one of those things that you will never regret doing (and I say this as a mum, not just as a photographer!)
One of my favourite ways to get really beautiful, natural photos of kids is to give them an activity to do, or a toy to play with, and to then step back a little and be “the observer” - documenting the cute moments that just naturally unfold when we let kids do their own thing rather than trying to get them to look and smile at the camera.
So when Moonkie reached out and asked if I would like to try out one of their products I was very happy to have found a brand that is both functional and fun for the kids, but is also so aesthetically pleasing and I knew would photograph beautifully - really adding to photos rather than distracting (as super bright toys sometimes can) and, photos aside, just generally being nice to look at for a pastel lover like myself!
This was supposed to be a maternity session with both parents-to-be at the beach, but when Emi’s hubby had to head to France a few days before our planned shoot date, we decided we’d still do the session, just in case bub decided to arrive before we were able to reschedule (you never know what’s going to happen with babies!!) (We luckily did manage to fit in time to take those photos at the beach and I’ll be sure to link them when the post for that session is up).
So we decided to do a solo maternity session at home, and it resulted in these gorgeous photos! Isn’t she just so beautiful? 😍
All maternity sessions are special, but there is just something extra magical about maternity photos when it is your first baby.
I think because it’s freezing, in this moment, memories of who you are, and how life feels right now - before it changes completely. There is something so special about being able to look back at yourself and your bump and remember those feelings - the excitement, the anticipation, the nervousness about what’s to come, the feeling their kicks and waiting to meet them!
I’m so happy to finally be sharing these photos from a really beautiful and relaxed newborn/family session down by the river. It was a typical, hot, Perth afternoon in late November , so we decided to start up in the park area under the trees and then headed down to the water a little later, where big sis had a lot of fun splashing around!
Life updates, a few tips for taking photos of your kiddies at home and my blogging intention for 2024
We had a really lovely family holiday down south in Margaret River for the long weekend a few weeks ago and I wanted to share some of the photos and things we got up to.
I hope it can be helpful if you’re looking for things to do in Margaret river with kids! It was pretty cold and rainy most of the time we were there, so this will give you some ideas for rainy day activities if you’re heading down in winter too!
Hello Hello!
It’s been a while! I’ve been having a little blogging break while I focus on other things, but I just couldn’t let Christmas go by without posting and recording a few memories!
I hope you’ve had a beautiful Christmas! Ours was lovely and also very exhausting! For any mums with a toddler reading this, I’m sure you’ll understand - lots of excitement paired with a very busy day and missing naps meant there were some very big emotions to deal with.
I have an exciting post to share today, which, as you can tell from the title, is all about baby capsule wardrobes!
As you’ll probably know if you’ve been reading for a while, I am a big fan of having a capsule wardrobe for myself, but have found it kind of difficult to implement the same streamlined approach to my kiddies wardrobe’s (they just grow so fast and it can be tricky planning out your purchases when you just don’t know how long they will be in a certain size!)
You can imagine my excitement when Stevie the owner of Borrowed by Baby contacted me and asked if I would like to try out a baby capsule wardrobe for Matteo! There could not be a more aligned collaboration and I’m so happy to be able to share this really awesome business with you!
Today’s post and video is about how I prepared our house for the new baby to make things as easy as possible for us when we brought them home!
As this was the second time round, I had a better idea of what to expect, so was able to set things up in a way that was just a bit more organised and helped make the transition a little easier!
I found the best way to think about it is in terms of “stations” - feeding station, changing station etc and making sure you have everything you need all in the right place!
This blog post is just going to be a list of things I had at each station, but the video talks through and actually shows things a little more, so have a watch if you’d like to know a bit more detail!
I hope its helpful if you’re about to have a baby!
Hello Hello!
So if you’ve been following along on Instagram (@laurennatalia.co) you’ll know that this is a rather belated post, but I wanted it to have a space here on the blog too!
Our little Matteo River is here!
He was born on the 18th of January at 12:16am, surprising us with a very quick entrance into the world - only an hour after we left for the hospital!!
His birth story is kinda wild and when they put him on my chest I was just in total shock with how quickly it all happened, but everything worked out perfectly!
We had a peaceful few days in hospital before heading home and adjusting to the craziness of life as a family of four!!
Ruby is so in love with her little brother - her “Baby Teo” as she calls him, and (although it was definitely a huge adjustment for her) has done so well getting used to our new family member! She is just so sweet with him and loves giving him cuddles and checking on “her baby”.
Here are a few photos from the first few days in hospital - such special moments and memories that I just love looking back on! I’m excited to hopefully get around to sharing his birth story soon too, as it was one of the coolest (and craziest!) experiences of my life!

Sweet little Baby H is going to be turning one soon, so I figured it was about time I put together a blog post sharing some of his newborn photos!
This session was so fun and I just love all the adorable facial expressions we managed to capture (including a little smile just after he’d finished feeding!)
