Hello hello! :)
I’m so happy to finally be sharing these photos from a really beautiful and relaxed newborn/family session down by the river. It was a typical, hot, Perth afternoon in late November , so we decided to start up in the park area under the trees and then headed down to the water a little later, where big sis had a lot of fun splashing around!
I always love to ask about a client’s vision for their session and what they want to remember most about this season of life, and when Ellen said that they were after “low-key, candid, fun photos” as well as wanting to remember “this time of adapting to the new addition, the fun, the chaos, the unpredictability, the snuggles and love” - I just knew we were going to have a fabulous time. Natural, candid photos and that feeling of just wanting to bottle up all the joy and beauty amongst the chaos of life with little ones, is exactly my kinda vibe!
During our session, Mum and Dad were so relaxed and just really present with their little ones, and that is always the number one thing that helps to make a session incredible - being able to have fun and play, letting go of expectations, embracing the chaos and just trusting that your photographer can see all the magic between you guys (even if at the time things feel a bit crazy!) - that’s always when the best photos are created. If Mum and Dad are relaxed, the kids are so much more likely to just have fun and I think you can see from these photos that these guys had a tonne of fun!
(And just a note to say, having recently had my own family photos taken, I know that “relaxing” and letting go of control during a session is much easier said than done, so if you’re not able to, it’s okay - you’re totally normal! I actually spent my own family photo session feeling rather tense about how my kiddies were behaving, but our photos turned out so beautifully despite my stress! The main things is you just need to trust, that your photographer can see the beauty in all the little moments, regardless of the craziness that may be happening!)
So all that to say, I had such a lovely time photographing this gorgeous family who made my job incredibly easy, and I feel like their relaxed, chill vibe, with all the love and playfulness and fun really came through in their photos!
