Well hello there! It’s been a while!
It’s currently 2:53am on Christmas eve, and as as usual around this time of year I’ve felt the pull to get back into blogging… so here I am, typing away despite the fact that I should be sleeping right now! (I just typed “write now”… so my brain is definitely not functioning at it’s best - forgive me for the grammatical errors that I’m sure will appear throughout the post!)
I wanted to hop on and just share some updates and these photos that I managed to snap of my kiddies the other day (I bribed Ruby by saying she could have a milo if she co-operated and she was up for it, so we picked up the toys and all the empty nappy boxes that were strewn about this room, got them into cute outfits and took some super quick photos. I love how they turned out! (Reminder to self, it’s always worth the effort!!)
A little tip when photographing your kiddies at home - it always makes it more fun for them (and a lot easier for you) if you find something to keep them busy (a book, a toy, give them instructions for something to do “can you put this decoration high up on the tree?”)
That way you can take a little time getting creative with different angles and get some natural photos of them while they’re occupied, rather than just trying to get them to sit still and smile at the camera! I always like to get a wider angle shot to set the scene, some closer up ones and then detail photos, like of their hands or feet (because chubby toddler hands are just the cutest aren’t they?!)
I’m so glad I managed to take these, because editing them and putting this blog post together has finally helped me to feel a bit more Christmassy!
With all the craziness that comes with life with kiddies and balancing that with being quite busy in my photography biz (which has been so wonderful), Christmas has really crept up on me this year.
It was really nice to deliver my final gallery of the year and then make some time to edit these personal photos. Photographing my little people is really how I found my passion for family photography in the first place and helping families preserve all these “everyday magic moments” is my “why” behind Lauren Natalia Photography - so I really need to make sure I take the time to do that for myself too!
I think I’m going to set an intention that 2024 will be the year that I really get back into blogging consistently. I want to start finally sharing my work on here (and not just on my Instagram @laurennataliaphoto) , writing helpful posts for my clients (things like “what to expect from an in-home session”, “what to wear for family photos” etc), as well as sprinkling in some personal posts like this for my own memories!
Okay I’ve said it here so I guess I’ll have to stick to it now - 2024 is going to be the year that I prioritise blogging again! I’m going to start with committing to blogging my photoshoots, and we’ll see how we go from there!
Blogging just feels so much more “permanent” and substantial than an instagram post and it gets me so excited thinking about all the things I want to share!
Let me k now if you have any particular requests and I’ll add them to my list of ideas :)
I was going to share some iphone snaps of some other things we’ve been up to lately, but I think that will have to wait for another post because I think I can hear Matteo waking up - Mum life never stops right? Lucky they are just so so gorgeous :)
Thank you for reading my rambles if you got this far and wishing you a beautiful Christmas and New Year!
Lots of Love
Lauren
