Hello hello!
I’m so excited to be sharing these beautiful in-home maternity photos that I had the pleasure of taking for one of my best and oldest friends.
This was supposed to be a maternity session with both parents-to-be at the beach, but when Emi’s hubby had to head to France a few days before our planned shoot date, we decided we’d still do the session, just in case bub decided to arrive before we were able to reschedule (you never know what’s going to happen with babies!!) (We luckily did manage to fit in time to take those photos at the beach and I’ll be sure to link them when the post for that session is up).
So we decided to do a solo maternity session at home, and it resulted in these gorgeous photos! Isn’t she just so beautiful? 😍
All maternity sessions are special, but there is just something extra magical about maternity photos when it is your first baby.
I think because it’s freezing, in this moment, memories of who you are, and how life feels right now - before it changes completely. There is something so special about being able to look back at yourself and your bump and remember those feelings - the excitement, the anticipation, the nervousness about what’s to come, the feeling their kicks and waiting to meet them!
I never actually had professional maternity photos taken when I was pregnant with Ruby (I wish I had!) but I do have some lovely photos taken by Tom, and there is one in particular that I framed and keep in my bedroom that is just so special to me (you can see it here if you like).
It reminds me of how magical that time was, all the excitement as we got ready for her arrival, …and also… I guess it reminds me of…me… of who I was before I became a mum.
Because motherhood does change you (in an incredible and amazing way).
I am a totally different person now to the girl in that photo, and while I definitely prefer the new me (she’s so much stronger, has gone through so much more and is just way more confident!) I do occasionally miss my old self… and it’s kinda nice to have a photo that reminds me of her - before all the changes!
Anyway, I hadn’t intended to talk so much about myself in this post, but hopefully if you’re on the fence about whether or not to have a maternity shoot, that ramble about how special they are will give you that little push to do it! (I usually recommend booking the session for when you are around 28-34 weeks - you never know what is going to come up in the later weeks of pregnancy and you’re usually a little comfier then too!)
I’ll leave you to enjoy these photos of this stunning mumma-to-be, drenched in beautiful sunlight and just patiently waiting to meet her little bubby.
Thank you so much Emi for allowing me to photograph this magical chapter and I’m so excited to meet your little one soon!
Thank you so much for reading!
