Hello Hello!
So if you’ve been following along on Instagram (@laurennatalia.co) you’ll know that this is a rather belated post, but I wanted it to have a space here on the blog too!
Our little Matteo River is here!
He was born on the 18th of January at 12:16am, surprising us with a very quick entrance into the world - only an hour after we left for the hospital!!
His birth story is kinda wild and when they put him on my chest I was just in total shock with how quickly it all happened, but everything worked out perfectly and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
We had a peaceful few days in hospital before heading home and adjusting to the craziness of life as a family of four!!
Ruby is so in love with her little brother - her “Baby Teo” as she calls him, and (although it was definitely a huge adjustment for her) has done so well getting used to our new family member! She is just so sweet with him and loves giving him cuddles and checking on “her baby”.
Here’s a little photo dump from the first few days in hospital - such special moments and memories that I just love looking back on.
Just a few minutes/hours old in these photos!
It all happened so quickly (about 2.5 hours since the first contraction to him being born!!) but luckily everyone got there just in time!! From my wonderful Obstetrician, to the lovely student midwife who had been following me, and the cord blood collector!
Looking back at these photos just makes me feel so happy and proud :)
For anyone in Perth looking for an Obstetrician - Dr Fiona Langdon is the absolute best! She makes you feel so calm and safe - even when things are all a bit overwhelming and crazy! The midwives who were looking after me were also so caring and supportive - so grateful for them too (especially as I wasn’t able to get the epidural that I had very much been planning on!!)
Excited to hopefully get around to sharing the full birth story soon as it was one of the coolest experiences of my life! (Is it weird that I’m already excited to do it all again someday??! haha… I’ve clearly blocked out how intense the experience was!!)
Breakfast at 1 am - Vegemite toast never tasted so good!
Cuddles with Daddy later in the day!
About 12 hours after birth. Your tummy just feels so weird and empty! Kind of like a squishy deflated balloon! But seriously - so amazed and really proud of what our bodies can do!
Time for his first bath! (He wasn’t a fan!!) :p
All snuggly and cute (and with nice clean hair!)
Heading downstairs to meet his big sister!
Ruby was so excited to see “her tiny baby”
Meeting his grandparents!
I was very excited about this cheese board!!
Cuddles with Dr Fiona (seriously the best Obstetrician ever!) :)
First night with just the two of us after Tom went home to be with Ruby!
He actually slept fairly well (compared to the previous night where he woke up to feed every hour!)
Very tired and happy, but also missing Ruby a lot here - so I decided we’d go home a little earlier than planned!
About to head home!
2 days old and so teeny and squishy!
Heading off to figure out life as a family of four! Ruby’s face says it all!!
