Hi friends!
Today’s outfit is super classic and casual and one of my favourite go-to looks when I want something effortless (which is basically always - especially nowadays!)
You can never go wrong with blue denim and a white shirt in my opinion - they’re the staple pieces that go with everything, can be styled over and over again in different ways and are the perfect “throw-on and go” combo.
Add to that a summer hat, layer a couple of necklaces and slip on some sandals, and you’re all set :)
I snapped these pics on the long weekend when Ruby and I went out for a walk to the park (which is something we try to do most days)
She’s definitely in need of more entertainment and stimulation these days, otherwise she gets bored and grumpy and makes these kinda hilarious frustrated noises, so we’ve been spending a lot more time outside, lying on the grass and looking up at the trees (amongst other activities!) The days can be very long if you don’t get out and about!
She loves looking up at the sky and it’s such a nice thing to do together - it really is so relaxing staring up at the leaves blowing in the wind.
Before having Ruby I like to think that I was pretty good at stopping to appreciate those small pleasures - the simple things… but having a little bubby really brings a whole new level of insight into the little details that we take for granted.
I love seeing how excited she gets watching the leaves swish, or when the breeze blows her hair, or hearing the birds chirping. It’s so sweet and a great reminder for me to practice a little mindfulness, and notice these small but beautiful everyday details too (“everyday magic moments” as I like to think of them).
I’ve been noticing a little more anxiety start to creep in lately, and I’ve realised that since Ruby was born, I haven’t been practicing as much mindfulness/meditation/appreciation/all the other things I used to do to keep it at bay.
I always found it funny when people at work would comment that I always seemed so calm and that things never seemed to stress me out, because the truth is I’m actually someone who is super prone to anxiety/worry and SO much work would go in everyday single day in order to maintain that “cool, calm, collected” appearance.
All those practices have kind of slipped away the past few months, and I’m starting to notice the effects, so I’m hoping to incorporate a few more of those things back into my day - starting with probably the easiest thing which is simply to be more mindful :)
Hopefully this post can be a little reminder for you to incorporate a few more “mindful moments” (no matter how small) into your day too!
Thanks as always for reading!
Lots of Love
Lauren
