Heya!
It's been a while since I've done a good old "My Style Diary" post, so today I wanted to share an outfit as well as a few fun photos from last weekend.
I'm so excited for the weather to warm up soon and for Spring to properly arrive (I am dying to break out my bright summery clothes!) so last Saturday I thought I'd ease into Spring dressing and pull out this daisy-printed dress. It's an old favourite from Jay Jays that I've had for years, and is such a versatile piece through all seasons. The print isn't crazy bright so it works even when the sun isn't properly shining (I sometimes feel a little weird wearing really bright colours when the sky is still grey and gloomy), it layers well with jumpers, and it's short enough to be worn with over-the-knee boots. Pretty much perfect for those in-between seasons.
As I mentioned, the warm weather hasn't quite arrived yet, so I layered my black wrap cardigan (another fabulously versatile piece) over the top, paired it with some tights and my current favourite boots.
This particular Saturday we actually had a lot planned. We started the day with breakfast at Boucla and a catch up with friends (always my favourite way to kick off the weekend). I had the Bircher Mueslie and it was delicious!
We then went and picked up our wedding rings which was very exciting! We now have about 2 months to go before the wedding and it's all starting to feel very real. I am SO excited for the day to be here, but at the same time I have so many things I want to get done first. I'm trying to just really enjoy this time and have fun in the lead up to the big day.
Next on the list was a trip into the city to sort out Tom's suit. Now that is a bit of a crazy story. Basically Tom was sold a suit that was way too big for him (at the time I did think it was a bit big but the sales people insisted it was the right size and just needed to be tailored). The lovely gentleman - Matthew - at the hire store where the groomsmen were getting their suits, noticed that Tom's suit was miles to big for him and that those alterations would probably cost around $300. He suggested that Tom should really return the suit and swap it for a smaller size but if we had any problems, we could bring it back to him and he would try to help us out because he works with that manufacturer. Long story short, we didn't have much luck with returning the suit, so we went back to the hire place and Matthew was kind enough to organise an exchange. He swapped it for a suit that was 2 sizes smaller and that fit PERFECTLY and didn't require a single alteration! Not very impressed with the suit store (they clearly just wanted to make a sale), but the service from Matthew at Britton's Formal Wear was excellent. He had no obligation to do this for us, but he went above and beyond, insisting he "had to make it right" and we are so grateful to him. I would highly recommend anyone who needs a suit in Perth to hire from them!
After the suit was all sorted, and we'd had a bit of a stroll around the city (how cool is this Umbrella installation in Hay Street Mall?!), we then headed to Fremantle to celebrate one of my best friend's birthdays . We spent a lovely relaxing afternoon at Whisper Wine Bar, just chilling out and chatting away. I'd never been to this Wine Bar before and was very impressed by the food and lovely laid back atmosphere. Sitting upstairs, with the sun streaming in from the windows and the French-inspired decor with red flowers in window boxes on the balcony, made for a rather idyllic setting. Definitely a perfect spot to while away a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
Of course we had to make a stop at Ben and Jerry's for ice-cream too!
So that's where I'll leave you today. It's Sunday morning as I'm writing this and I'm sitting here in bed with my tea and feeling very content.
I feel like I've re-discovered my love of blogging with this post and I'm going to try and hold onto that. I've realised that I actually prefer the old school, more personal blogs where people share what's going on in their lives and you actually get to know them as a person a bit more... even if that's not really what everyone wants to read. I started Lauren Loves Laughter for me, not for anyone else, and that's something I need to remember. "Do what makes you happy" and all that. You can expect to see some more personal posts coming your way.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend! I'd love to hear what you're getting up to!
Lots of Love
Lauren
