My Style Diary - Winter is Coming...

Today has been a bit of a rainy, blustery day

(the word blustery always makes me think of Winnie the Pooh - anyone else agree?)

, and it's made me really excited for winter. There's just something so comforting about snuggling up indoors after a busy day with a cup of tea and listening to the rain.

Now that the weather's cooled down, I'm excited about the fact that I can

finally pull out the cozy winter layers and accessories. In particular, this pair of black ankle boots that I'd been on the hunt for for ages. I finally found my perfect pair that ticks all the boxes (suede, a chunky heel that's just the right height and a front part that dips down so it doesn't cut my leg off too much), and I can see they'll be getting a lot of wear this season (and for many more years to come too I hope!)

I'm more of a summer person and the grey weather can sometimes get me down a little, so luckily for me the sun almost always manages to find it's way through the clouds (even for just a little bit) in Perth. For days when that doesn't happen, a bright scarf is always handy to add a little colour and light to an otherwise dreary day. I'm rather fond of this one that I managed to score from Sportsgirl for a bargain price of $3.50! Scarfs would definitely have to be my favourite accessory come Autumn/Winter. They're not only practical but they can add so much to an otherwise plain outfit!

Anyway, that's it for today.

Let me know what your favourite winter accessory is :)

My Style Diary - With Flowers in My Hair

Hello hello :)

I've always loved the look of floral crowns, and its a trend I've been wanting to wear ever since they first appeared, however

I've always felt just a bit too shy to give them a go.

When I saw this beautiful one on sale at Sportsgirl the other day (managed to pick it up for $3!), I couldn't pass it up, as it was one I could actually really see myself wearing.

I love the beautiful bold colour that really stands out, but the fact that the flowers are on the back means I don't feel too over the top when I'm wearing it. There's also no pesky elastic band at the back which I feel takes away from the beauty of many of the the floral crowns I've seen (aside from the fact that I can never seem to get those ones to sit and stay comfortably on my head!)

For this crowns first outing (brunch with one of my best friends), I kept the rest of the outfit very simple with just jeans, a striped t-shirt and biker boots.

I really like the

contrast of the tough biker boots and the feminine florals and I think this outfit really epitomises my style - comfy and casual but with a touch of girlie-ness thrown into the mix.

Anyway, enough rambling...

I hope you're having a great night! I'm snuggled up in bed listening to the rain which is so relaxing after a busy day!

Goodnight :)

...also floral crowns always remind me of that song "I wish I was a punk rocker (with flowers in my hair)" ... anyone remember that one?

I wasn't super fond of the song but it just brings back good memories :)

My Style Diary - Basics and Brights

Hello hello :)

There's nothing quite like a simple white tee and jeans. They're such failsafe staples that can always be relied upon, and I just love the clean, laid back look of the white and blue.

It's also a handy fall back when you're wearing a slightly unusual nail polish colour and don't want your outfit to clash with your nails.

Hey -  it's something you've gotta think about!

(my Dad would be rolling his eyes if he read this... "frivolous" he would say... ;) )

Anyway...

The polish in question is Essie's Mint Candy Apple which is a gorgeous light turqouisey-minty-blue (yup that's the description I'm going with). It's a stunning colour, but you do have to think a little more when getting dressed.

I ended up throwing on this bright coral cardigan, and I actually really love the colours together. A very bright, cheerful combination in my opinion, and perfect for a lovely sunny, autumn day

(Well it was sunny the weekend I took these pics... today's been a little gloomy...)

I hope you've had a great weekend!

Lots of Love

My Style Diary - Work Wear # 2 - My Work Uniform

Good morning :)

I hope you're having a lovely Saturday morning!

Today's post is what I wore to work this Thursday. I like to be super comfy at work, and this is my typical work "uniform" - black pants, a simple top, black cardigan and oxford flats.

I don't believe these shoes have ever made an appearance on my blog, but they're probably my most worn ones as I wear them pretty much every day to work. They're from

Steve Madden and have seen a lot of love over the past few years or so. Unfortunately they're starting to look a little (well a lot) worse for wear, but I'm yet to find a suitable replacement that I love as much. The leather is so soft and comfy and the studded tips add just a bit of fun to my otherwise rather plain work outfits. If anyone has seen a similar style floating around please let me know!

Another love is my work bag from Kikki.K. It's one of those pieces that I'd had my eye on for a very long time, so when it went on sale (40% off!), I pounced. As I always say - if you're willing to wait, everything (well almost everything) will eventually go on sale!

Anyway, have a great day!

My Style Diary - Flashback

Heya :)

So  once again I have another set of photos that I'd completely forgotten about!

These were taken a couple of months ago when I was down in Margaret River, and with the long weekend coming up I was day dreaming about how nice it would be to get down there again (which then led to the discovery of these pics)

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be venturing down south for a little while, but for now we can just take a little trip back down memory lane, to the vineyard at The Duckstein Brewery where these photos were taken.

I hope you're having a great weekend!
