The Foodie Post - Breakfast at the Margaret River Bakery

A visit to the Margaret River Bakery is always a must whenever we find ourselves down south, so after deciding spontaneously to take a (very) short trip with my family this weekend, of course we had to stop by!

It's such a cute, quirky little place with mismatched furniture and an eclectic mix of colourful crockery, fun table numbers and of course fabulous food!

While they have a great selection of pies, rolls and yummy sweet treats, their breakfast menu is always my favourite. I was torn between choosing a number of the items - like the Avocado smash (which my mum had and loved), the Canadian pancakes or French Toast, but ultimately settled on their Granola with greek yoghurt and berries, which was not only delicious but also had the added benefit of being particularly photogenic ;)

Their Mango smoothie (that was actually green) was a winner too and my little sister Bella had the breakfast smoothie which she thoroughly enjoyed. My Mum tells me their Kermit Green Smoothie is also a good'un.

Tom had a long black (which was "okay but nothing to write home about" - although do note that Tom's a bit of a coffee snob!) and a pepper steak pie (their pies are always delicious!)

Delicious food, a lovely relaxed atmosphere and getting to spend time with some of my favourite people - a pretty good way to spend a Saturday morning :)

If you've never been before, The Bakery is definitely a place to add to your list (just keep in mind that they're closed on Sundays!)

Hope you're having a great weekend!

My Style Diary - At The Lighthouse

Some of my favourite blogs to read have such stunning outfit photos, with amazing backdrops of beautiful natural landscapes, exciting city locations, fun colourful doors or other interesting settings (all of which also happen to look just perfect with their outfit).

Two blogs that immediately spring to mind are

What Olivia Did

and

WishWishWish

They're such an inspiration to me and I would love if my blog could one day be even half as beautiful.

When Tom and I made our way up to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a few outfit shots in front of the bright red door. There's something about having a different location that makes outfit photos so much more fun and interesting.

I really need to start venturing out more and finding new, different locations to take photos, but first I need to get over worrying about people watching me!

Any bloggers out there that have any tips for me? I know I just shouldn't care about it, but it's easier said than done!

I hope you're having a lovely Thursday!

The Weekend Post: The Bakery, Breweries and Visiting a Lighthouse

Hello!

Today I have another set of photos from our little trip down south to share with you.

We had a lovely start to our  Saturday with breakfast at The Margaret River Bakery, which is my absolute favourite place to visit when I'm down there. It is such a cute little place with great atmosphere - old chairs and sofas on the veranda, photos, artwork and plates covering the walls and quirky mismatched mugs and tea cups. Not to mention

the best

tasting food!

My drink of choice is usually tea which is always presented so beautifully in one of their many adorable little tea pots. This time though, I had a chai latte (which was soo good), and avocado and feta on sourdough toast with cherry tomato salsa. Such a simple dish but it was done so well and is truly one of the best breakfasts I have ever had.

Tom had the banana and honeycomb pancakes which were also seriously amazing!

After breakfast we decided to explore somewhere different, so after a bit of a drive we ended up at Cape Naturaliste and had a nice walk up to the Lighthouse. The view from there is so beautiful, but it was extremely windy so we didn't hang around for too long. Tom did snap a few photos for me though so you can expect an outfit post coming up soon!

Tom loves his beer so next it was on to the breweries (I'm not a beer drinker, so was happy to play the designated driver for the afternoon).

We stopped in at the Eagle Bay Brewery where Tom enjoyed the beer tasting plate and I cringed and pulled funny faces when he convinced me to take a sip (nope - beer is just not my thing).

I did however like the chalk board out the front - "I'm not addicted to beer, we're just in a committed relationship" -very applicable to Tom!

Then, after driving around and stopping off at a few other random spots, we headed to the Bush Shack Brewery which had a really nice, laid back feel, and spent a lovely afternoon just relaxing there.

After a very fun but quite busy day, we headed back, cooked Spaghetti Carbonara for dinner and spent the night watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which has now been added to my list of favourite movies - partly because it has Emma Watson in it and partly because it was just an awesome movie).

All in all it was a pretty perfect weekend away :)

Now I'm just daydreaming about the next one!

Hope you're having a great night

Summer, You Make Me Happy

Last week Tom and I decided to head down south to Margaret River. It's so nice to get away for a bit, even just for a few days, and Margaret River is truly one of my favourite places in the world.

On the way down we stopped in Busselton to stretch our legs, and while we did contemplate walking the jetty, seeing as it's 1841m long (the longest wooden piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere) and it was a crazy hot day, we decided to save ourselves from sunburn and leave that for next time.

Instead, we had a lovely little stroll along the beach, while indulging in some delicious Simmo's ice-cream.

Tom can be such a little kid sometimes and gets very excited about ice-cream - you can tell from the giant smile on his face that he was pretty darn happy about it! :)

I had the Orange Choc-Chip flavour and it was soo good!

Ahh Summer... blue skies, beautiful beaches, sand between you toes, melting hot days and scrumptious ice-cream to cool you down ...

Life doesn't get better than this!

My Style Diary - Pink Plaid and Grey

Hello!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to escape down to Margaret River for a couple of days, and had the best time just chilling out, going for bush walks and enjoying some yummy food (I seriously love the Margaret River Bakery). It's so beautiful down south in winter - just look at how green everything is!

It may be a little stereotypical, but for some reason I always like pulling out the plaid shirt when I'm spending time in the country. It has a very relaxed, laid back vibe which just seems very appropriate. (Plus I love the fact that I managed to find a more feminine one in typical "Lauren colours" ie: mainly pink

).

Add a slouchy beanie and you're all set for a chilled out day!

Lots of Love
