My Style Diary - At The Lighthouse

Some of my favourite blogs to read have such stunning outfit photos, with amazing backdrops of beautiful natural landscapes, exciting city locations, fun colourful doors or other interesting settings (all of which also happen to look just perfect with their outfit).

Two blogs that immediately spring to mind are

What Olivia Did

and

WishWishWish

They're such an inspiration to me and I would love if my blog could one day be even half as beautiful.

When Tom and I made our way up to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a few outfit shots in front of the bright red door. There's something about having a different location that makes outfit photos so much more fun and interesting.

I really need to start venturing out more and finding new, different locations to take photos, but first I need to get over worrying about people watching me!

Any bloggers out there that have any tips for me? I know I just shouldn't care about it, but it's easier said than done!

I hope you're having a lovely Thursday!

Oh - and here's Tom's outfit photo! hehe ;)

I just had to include it 'cause he's such a cutie!

Summer, You Make Me Happy

Last week Tom and I decided to head down south to Margaret River. It's so nice to get away for a bit, even just for a few days, and Margaret River is truly one of my favourite places in the world.

On the way down we stopped in Busselton to stretch our legs, and while we did contemplate walking the jetty, seeing as it's 1841m long (the longest wooden piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere) and it was a crazy hot day, we decided to save ourselves from sunburn and leave that for next time.

Instead, we had a lovely little stroll along the beach, while indulging in some delicious Simmo's ice-cream.

Tom can be such a little kid sometimes and gets very excited about ice-cream - you can tell from the giant smile on his face that he was pretty darn happy about it! :)

I had the Orange Choc-Chip flavour and it was soo good!

Ahh Summer... blue skies, beautiful beaches, sand between you toes, melting hot days and scrumptious ice-cream to cool you down ...

Life doesn't get better than this!

PS - A bit random, but I found a pretty cool

of melting ice-cream. It's quite hypnotic!

My Style Diary - Black, Gold and Gingham

Hello hello :)

I hope you've had a good Monday - I'm officially back to work tomorrow and I keep fluctuating between feelings of dread at the thought of jumping into a whole new year and excitement to be getting back into things and being an actual functioning, productive human being again! I really have no reason to complain (I've had a good long break), but there's always a bit of sadness at the end of holidays. Ah well...

Anyway, I thought I'd share with you these photos from Thursday.

Funny story - on Thursday night I was all ready to  go out for dinner with two of my friends who I haven't seen in ages... I was just walking out the door when I texted one of my friends saying "See you soon!" to which the reply was "Errr...it's next Thursday??"

D'oh!!!!

Silly Lauren!

At least I had a chance to take some blog photos... and now I get to look forward to dinner with them this week :)

Happy Monday!

My Style Diary - White Lace, Denim Shorts

Can you tell what my favourite outfits are yet?

A white (preferably lacy) top and denim is always my go to, and I could quite happily live in variations of this all year round. This beautiful one from Forever New has been a staple in my wardrobe for years and has somehow hardly appeared on the blog. Not sure how that happened but I think it's a sign I have far too many clothes!

Streamlining my wardrobe is actually something I'm in the process of doing right now. I'm in one of those phases where clutter has just been overwhelming me and I really want to just cut down and simplify everything! I've been reading a lot of blogs about minimalism lately, and although I'm sure I'll never be a "true minimalist", I do really like the idea of it.

I'm planning on writing a few posts about this at some point so I'm sure you'll hear about my progress soon enough!

My Style Diary - Cold Shoulder

The cold shoulder trend is one I've never been hugely fond of. Not to say that I hate it, it's more that I always thought it was a bit of a weird concept - hello burnt shoulders and strange tan lines!

When I saw this top on Asos a few years ago though, I fell in love with the gorgeous colours and pattern so decided to give it a try. It's been one of my favourites ever since and the cold shoulder style adds a bit of interest and makes it a little different.

To be honest I would probably get more use out of it if it was just a regular t-shirt but we can't  always have everything perfect! :)

What do you think of the cold shoulder trend?
