So this is my first post on the "new" blog and I'm so happy to be back. It feels like ages since I've actually put together a post (and I'm still learning the tricks of the trade when it comes to blogging with Squarespace, so bear with me while I work on ironing out the kinks!) so I thought I'd kick off with a good old outfit post to ease back into things.
I'm in love with these over-the-knee boots I picked up recently and have found them to be so versatile and easy to wear. While I was a little unsure of this style when it was first emerging, I've been completely converted now and have been wearing them constantly. They're leg lengthening (always a plus for a shorty like me!), comfortable, easy to slip on and they can totally change the look of an outfit. They've helped me transition much more easily into the cooler months and I feel like they've opened up a bunch of new outfit possibilities for my capsule wardrobe.
I love how adding just one new (carefully chosen) item can breathe new life into your wardrobe, and these boots have done just that. They've been the change I need to keep my capsule wardrobe interesting and let me mix things up with the clothes I already have, stopping me from feeling like I need to go out and buy more things.
If you're feeling that your capsule is getting a little dull, look around for some inspiration (blogs/magazines/youtube) and see if there are any new trends that speak to you and that could easily be incorporated into you style. The key here is to find something that is a little fresh and different, but most importantly VERSATILE and can be paired with a number of different outfits to spice them up and add a little twist to your usual style. I'm obviously not one to promote blind following of trends or to say that you need to go out and buy something new, but sometimes you just need a little refresher - something that you can pair with your existing wardrobe to change things up! If there is a particular trend that grabs your attention, will work with your style and you can see yourself loving it for a long time, just go for it! It might be a fab pair of shoes, a cozy cardigan, a great jacket...
Just one thing that will make all your other outfits feel a little more special and prevent you from feeling the need to go on a shopping spree!
I love how these boots are classic (they're black suede boots after all) and effortless (notice I went for a flat boot, not a heel) but because of the style they still a feel a little playful, particularly when paired with a flirty skirt. They're a piece that feels fresh and new, but that I won't look back on in a years time and think - "Why did I buy these?" or "I don't have anything to wear with these!" (I'm pretty sure I won't anyway!)
