A Review of Neveo Family Album - The Perfect Gift for Grandparents & Great Grandparents

June 27, 2020 Lauren Natalia
Laurennatalia.co review of Neveo Family Album

*please note - this product was gifted, however all opinions are of course my own! :)

Hi friends!

Today I’m sharing a review about an app - Neveo Family Album - that I was recently introduced to, and that I think is a really cool concept - even more so in the current Covid-19 situation where a lot of us have had to be separated from our families!

Neveo Family Album is an app that helps you create a monthly magazine where you can quickly and easily upload photos from your phone, add in captions and, at the end of the month have it sent directly to your chosen family member.

Why I think it’s fab:

In this modern age, we tend to share a lot of photos through online means - whether that be through social media or - in my case - What’s App, but for the grandparents (and great grandparents particularly) who might not be quite so tech-savvy, I think having a way to easily send a printed version - a beautiful collection of photos and memories that they can be surprised by in the post and actually hold in their hands - is a really lovely idea!

I was kindly given the opportunity to test it out for 2 months and see what I thought.

Naturally I decided to have the albums sent to my Nonna and Nonno - (Ruby’s great grandparents - her Bisnonna and Bisnonno) who we hadn’t been able to see for some time due to the quarantine/social distancing measures that were in place!

I told my Nonna to expect something in the post, but didn’t tell her what it was, and when the album arrived I received a very happy phone call! She said it was such a lovely surprise and that she and Nonno had been loving looking through the photos!

In normal times we would usually see my grandparents once a week and they were really missing seeing Ruby, so it was nice to be able to send them a little gift like this to brighten up their day!

How it works:

I found the process to be really simple - you download the app and can easily upload photos from your phone and add in captions.

A feature that I think is really cool is that you can have multiple family members adding to the same album - all you have to do is add them as contributors and make sure they also download the app.

At the end of the month the journal is closed, automatically sent for printing and then posted to whoever you’ve chosen.

It works on a subscription basis which can be either monthly or yearly and depending on the subscription chosen you can add up to 50, 100 or 180 photos per month (and delivery is included in the cost of the subscription).

For 50 photos the cost is 9.99€ / £9.99 / $14.99 per month (US dollars though - that’s the only downside - considering the Aussie dollar is pretty low at the moment! As a gift though I think it’s definitely worth it!)

A little tip:

The way the album is laid out does mean that square or landscape photos come out best rather than vertical photos.

While you can edit them fairly easily in the app, I found it easiest to create an album on my phone “Neveo Family Album - May” for example, and throughout the month add the photos I wanted to share as I took them.

Then, just before the end of the month I would go through this smaller collection, quickly make any edits to the photos (such as cropping them to square/landscape, brightening up the image etc) and then uploading them all to the app in one go.

Obviously this isn’t necessary, but I like to touch up my photos a little and this was a quick and easy way of doing that (and I’m just used to my phone’s editing functions so found that to be more efficient!)
You can definitely just upload straight to the app and make any adjustments there (or just leave them as they are!) if that’s your preference.

In Summary

Overall I think it’s a great app and I love the concept. It was easy to use, the photos came out really nicely and it makes a great gift.

I think it would be particularly perfect for anyone who has family living far away. It would be a great way to keep the grandparents (or great grandparents, or any family member really) up to date with what’s going on and, even if they are a bit more technologically savvy, theres just something so special about printed photos (and who doesn’t love receiving a special gift in the post right?!)

At the moment Neveo is offering 2 months for free with the code “SUPPORT” if you would like to try it out.
You’'ll be able to send one 50 picture journal each month for 2 months. (After the 2 months you can either cancel your subscription (no obligation to continue) or continue with Neveo for $14.99 USD per month)
You can download the app here for iPhone of here for android.

I’d love to know if you try it out and what your thoughts are! Leave me a comment below or come say hi on Instagram @laurennatalia.co

I hope you’re all doing okay during these weird times!

Lots of Love
Lauren
