Hi friends!
It’s the seventh and final day of the #StayHomeReady style challenge (see this post if you’ve missed what it’s about) and today I’m back in my trusty combo of blue denim and pink, but today instead of overalls it’s my comfy boyfriend style jeans and a light knit top.
Autumn is upon us and I have to say even though I’m usually such a summer lover I really have been enjoying the cooler days.
Today was spent tidying up around the house and garden (my Dad came over and helped Tom prune the lemon tree - which turned out to be a rather large job!) and Ruby had fun sitting in a box and supervising as we tidied up all the leaves!
I can’t believe how big she is now and how fast the past few months have gone. This time last year I hadn’t even announced I was pregnant yet and now look at her - sitting up all by herself and almost 8 months old! It really has been the best 8 months of my life even with all the craziness that is going on in the world at the moment.
I don’t have a tonne to say about this outfit as it is super basic. These are my comfiest jeans so perfect for wearing at home when I still want to get properly dressed but also want the comfort of trackies! I’ve really enjoyed this challenge and feel like taking that tiny bit of extra time to get ready each day has definitely improved my mood.
It’s reminded me of how powerful style can be in helping you feel your best and also how important it is to take that little bit of time to do something for yourself (without feeling guilty about it). As the saying goes - self care isn’t selfish and you can’t pour from an empty cup… and I think as a mum that’s definitely something that is so important to remember. There’s also another quote I’ve seen floating around that always makes me smile - “I’m nicer when I like my outfit” :p … I have to agree with that one! haha!
It’s been so fun getting back into blogging more regularly (even if it has just been simple outfit posts!) I have so many more things I would love to share on here (a lot more about mindset and personal development stuff that I’ve been loving in particular!) so hopefully I can keep up the habit of writing and creating more again. Ruby has been sleeping a bit better lately (touch wood!) so that’s why I’ve been able to actually stick with this challenge and post everyday this week!
Also the fact that with isolation, there’s not all the distractions that I used to have…I feel like I need to try and maintain this space when life gets back to normal. In some ways I’ve actually really been enjoying this quiet time and slower pace (without meaning to be insensitive at all, I am fully aware how privileged I am and that other people are having a really tough time at the moment)… Does anyone else feel that too or is it just me and my extreme introverted-ness? I kinda feel bad saying but it’s how I’ve been feeling…
Anyway, it’s getting late so I should leave it at that for today.
Hopefully you’ve enjoyed this week of blog posts!
