My Style Diary - Fashionable Flamingos

Hello!

I hope you've had a great start to the week :)

I have to say I'm glad Monday is over! Despite the fact that I enjoy my job,  and n

o matter how much I try to convince myself that "Monday is a great day",  a "new start",

Monday mornings are always hard, and it's always nice to see the end of them. The rest of the week seems much more manageable once Monday is over! (...Maybe one day I will learn to like them).

Anyway... This is what I wore on the weekend. I've had this flamingo printed top for years and still love it just as much now as I did when I first bought it. It's such a fun, summery print. Pink and green is a combination I've always loved, and I think this top ties the two colours together perfectly. Paired with white shorts (one of my summer staples), it's a perfect outfit for a scorching hot day.

It's probably not the best to wear if you're going for a walk and just happen to stumble upon a Mulberry tree though... (which is what we did). I was very careful though and managed not to get any purple stains on my white shorts!

Mulberry picking makes me so nostalgic... It's one of those things that just makes me think of summer holidays gone by :)

Lots of Love

My Style Diary - Batik Florals

Heya!

Happy Saturday! I'm so glad it's finally the weekend :)

I haven't been up to all that much today. Just got back from having some yummy Japanese for lunch with Tom, and now enjoying having a lovely lazy day. I think I might go and read outside after this, although it's actually really lovely up here in my room right now. In the spring, when the trees are all beautiful and bushy and green, it kind of feels like I'm up in a tree house. It's funny though, when I was studying, I would gaze outside, wishing I was anywhere but at my desk, but now, I'm finding it to be quite relaxing just sitting here, typing away :)

Anyway, this is what I wore last Saturday when I went out for dinner with my friends.

I'm so in love with this maxi skirt from Tigerlily. The gorgeous batik floral design, the colour, the cut, the swishy-ness.. it's just perfection :)

I'd had my eye on this for ages. Every time I walked past the store I would go in and look at it, never letting myself try it on... but eventually I caved... and finally ended up walking out with it.

I've been looking for the perfect top to pair it with, and it's been surprisingly difficult to find what I'm looking for. All the tops I've tried have been either too loose, too tight, too low backed, too sheer (or maybe I'm just being fussy). I still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet,

but I decided this black singlet (which I've had for years), would do for now.

That's it for today, I hope you're enjoying this beautiful Saturday!

My Style Diary - White Lace and Denim

Heya :)

So Sunday night has rolled around once again. The year seems to be passing by so incredibly quickly. I can't believe it's November already! I really do think that every year as you get older, the years seem to go by just that little more quickly. It's a bit scary!

Anyway...

This is a "typical Lauren" outfit for the warmer months - very simple and relaxed. I love the lace detailing on this top, it's so pretty and feminine, while being really comfortable too. I know this isn't the most interesting of outfits, but I love this laid-back, effortless style. It's what I live in over summer and just feels very "me".

Anyway, I'm off to have dinner and hang out with Tom... maybe watch a little Gilmore Girls :p

I hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

My Style Diary - "Florals? For Spring? Ground breaking."

Hello Hello :)

I hope you're having a lovely Saturday! We've been having such gorgeous weather lately and it's put me in a ridiculously happy mood!

This is what I wore to work this morning (I tend to dress a tad more casually for work on Saturdays). These floral pants have turned out to be a great purchase - I've worn them all year round but I think they're particularly great in spring.

Anyway, I'm off to get ready for dinner. I'm going out with my best friends and I'm

super excited to see them, as I've been a bit of a recluse the past few weeks!

Lots of Love

My Style Diary - Starry White

Helloo :)

I'm sitting on my bed feeling very  relaxed and sleepy at the moment, but I wanted to do a bit of blogging as it's been a while since my last post!

So far it's been a nice relaxing Friday night, consisting of a lovely warm bath and watching The Vampire Diaries. I'm not usually much of a bath person (I get bored too easily - and I worry that if I bring a book in I'll ruin it), but

my neck and shoulders have been really achy lately (the hazards of being a dentist...and having rather poor posture), and I've found taking a bath helps.

I've also acquired a few bath time goodies from

Lush

over the past few weeks which have made it much more fun! If you're not familiar with Lush, they are a company that makes bath and beauty products, and they have a whole range of colourful, absolutely amazing smelling products - bubble bars, bath bombs, shower gel etc etc. I happen to work dangerously close to the Lush store and have developed a bit of a bad habit of popping in during my lunch break, and inevitably buying a few bits and bobs. I might do a post on Lush at some point, as I find they're always fun to read!

Anyway, this has nothing to do with the above photos, so lets move onto the outfit :)

It's finally warmed up enough to start wearing shorts, and I'm so excited for warmer weather. There's something so nice about being able to walk outside in the morning and just smell that summer is coming! I've been wearing this star printed shirt from Country Road a tonne lately. It's such a great piece, particularly for this time of year, and I can wear it casually, or dress it up for work. I'm also really loving rose gold at the moment, and I think it looks great with white (which is convenient, as white makes up probably 80% of my wardrobe).

I just realised that I'm really not very good at talking about fashion/style. It always takes me a bit of time to think about what I want to say about my outfit, and then once I've written it, I think "that's lame". See, I don't really follow trends in terms of keeping super up to date with "what's in" and "what's new" - I just wear what I like and what I think looks nice, so my commentary on outfits is probably not the best. I guess that's the good thing about blogging though - you don't have to follow a specific rigid format. A blog can be whatever you want it to be. For me it's a record of my "personal style", along with a bit of  blabbing about my life lately. I'm sorry if it's boring!

Ok, that's it for tonight. I'm thinking I might re-watch some Vampire Diaries episodes. As you may have noticed, my choice in TV shows is not exactly the most sophisticated, but I seriously love that show! Anyone else with me? Also I'm a little bit (well okay a lot) in love with Stefan... luckily Tom isn't the jealous type :p hehe

I hope you're having a great Friday night!
