My Style Diary - Gingham

I've mentioned before that  I'm not typically a skirt person - I love the look, but when it comes down to it, I love the convenience and comfort of shorts more. Enter - the skort. It's one of those pieces that is a little different, but can be super cute if you find the right pair.

This gingham pair from Zara was love at first sight and I can see them becoming a staple in my summer wardrobe. I couldn't wait until then to break them out though, so I've been pairing them with tights to add a little warmth while the weather's still cooler.

What do you think of skorts? Yes? No? Weird?

Let me know :)

My Style Diary - Wedding Guest

Hello hello!

The weekends have been kinda crazy lately (in a good way), but unfortunately that means my little blog doesn't get much love! I finally have some time to just sit, go through photos and put this together so I'm making the most of it!

It's actually 6:45 am on a Sunday morning as I'm typing this. I can't decide if it's a good or a bad thing that I never seem to be able to sleep in, no matter how late a night I have (and last night was a really late one). I guess some people are just naturally night people and some are morning people and I definitely fall into the latter category. In the mornings I'm full of energy, but come night time I am totally unproductive and exhausted. I realise this probably sounds bizarre to most people... but there must be someone out there who agrees??? :p

Anyway,

Last Saturday, Tom and I went to his cousin's wedding. The whole day was just perfect - it was held in a beautiful little chapel, the bride was stunning in a dress completely covered in gorgeous intricate beading, and the ceremony was just so sweet and heartfelt.

I wore this dress which I've had for years and has seen me through a number of Uni balls/other fancy events. I love the colour (can you tell I like pink?) and pretty floral/leaf detailing along the neckline, but in hindsight I probably would have paired it with more narrow belt. Ah well, next time!

I hope you're having a great day!

My Style Diary - Concerto Night

Last night my littlest sister was a soloist in her schools Concerto Night. She played the Elgar Cello Concerto (my favourite piece... I actually learnt it myself back when I played cello, but never to the standard that Bella has done), and she played amazingly well. I'm so proud of her!

Bella isn't too keen to appear on the blog, otherwise I'd share more photos (she looked absolutely beautiful all dressed up), but here's one of her on stage. She was so impressive!

She did such a great job and it really reflected all the hard work she put into it :)

As for my outfit, it was one of those "Gahh I have 10 minutes to get ready, what am I going to wear" situations, so of course I opted for a simple black dress and my new favourite heels. Apologies for the blurry photos, my dad was kind enough to snap them for me as we were heading out the door and there wasn't much light left! I do quite like the antique effect they have though.

Anyway, now I have to go get ready for a wedding - it's quite a busy (but fun) weekend this one!

I hope you're having a great day!

August in Pictures

Another little recap of the fun things I got up to in August, which included;

*Getting a little overexcited about Zara opening in Perth (and doing a tad too much shopping!)

*Finishing up a short Makeup Artist course for beginners (which was great fun!)

*Weekend walks with my favourite person, making the most of the perfect sunny weather we've been having lately

(...it's funny though because as I'm writing this it's bucketing down with rain and there's a "severe weather warning"...)

I hope you had a great month!
