(or should I say Bonjour?!)
Today I have a French Can-Can dancer costume to share that I put together for my best friend Emily and her fiancé’s house warming party last Saturday (Her fiancé, Francois, is French and the party happened to be held on Bastille day!)
I’ve always loved dressing up, so costume parties are a great excuse to rummage through the old dress up box at my parent’s house where we've accumulated quite an assortment of interesting clothing items over the years and that come in very handy for these kind of occasions!
I feel like piecing together costumes is one of my secret talents, and a huge part of the fun when it comes to costume parties is the creative process of playing around, styling things in different ways and seeing what you can come up with! After reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s book “Big Magic” I’ve realised that creativity takes many forms, and this is one of the ways I used to express creativity all the time when I was younger and that I’ve really missed lately!
As kid’s we would always dress up and play make-believe, making up wild stories and putting on an endless number of plays for our parents, and while those days may be long behind us, I love the occasional chance to step back into that world of imagination.

Today I wanted to share some photos of our apartment and have a little chat about how we've been gradually turning this "house" into a home. We've been here for over three years now (how crazy is that?!) and have been loving the process of slowly decorating and putting our own stamp on the place.
The space where you live can have such a huge impact on how you feel and I am so appreciative every single day to have this space to call our own. It's our little sanctuary where we can completely relax and recharge no matter what has been going on in the world outside and somewhere that I can have fun styling and creating little areas of prettiness!

It's been a while since I've posted anything here and I can't believe we're already nearing the end of April! I know I say it all the time but this year is seriously flying by!
Speaking of flying, as I'm writing this Tom and I are actually on a plane to Italy! We're so excited to be heading off on our belated honeymoon (yes we're still calling this trip our honeymoon... gotta milk it while we can!) and this is going to be our biggest adventure yet - we're away for almost 7 weeks!
Before I start documenting our travels, I thought first I'd share some of the things I've been getting up to and enjoying in my day to day life, as a kind of bridge between weddings and travels, because, although sometimes social media may make it seem that way, life's not always about jumping from one crazy exciting thing to the next.
Life happens in the in-between moments and I want to be someone who can appreciate simple day to day life and make those times beautiful and enjoyable too!
