Hi Friends!
Today I'm sharing five of my favourite feel-good podcasts (sorry, couldn't resist that alliteration!)
Of course, I love a good crime podcast as much as anyone, but sometimes they do leave me feeling a little bit "icky" if you know what I mean? They're fascinating and really draw you in, but sometimes my brain just needs a little break, and that's when these happy, feel-good, self-development kinda shows come in!
I love listening to these ones on my drive to work, and they're particularly good whenever I need a little pick-me-up!
If you haven't got into podcasts you should definitely give them a try - I guarantee you'll fall in love with them because they make everything more enjoyable - from a work commute, to doing chores around the house, to long drives... they are a super easy way to add more fun (and learning!) to your day!
So here we go - 5 Podcasts that will put a smile on your face and brighten your day:
1) The Lively Show
The Lively Show is one of the first shows I started listening to when I discovered podcasts about 4 years ago.
Hosted by Jess Lively, the show has definitely evolved and moved in many different directions over the years!
Starting out in the business field, the show was mainly interview based and included conversations with business owners and entrepreneurs, but always with a focus on living a meaningful, fulfilling life and following your intuition or "gut instinct" (she is very big on this!!)
As Jess says in the show's introduction, it's "designed to uplift, inspire and add a little extra intention to your everyday".
Over the years, Jess has pivoted away from the business genre and moved into a more "spiritual", some may say "woo woo" realm (she gets really into The Law of Attraction, consciousness, the subconscious mind, even crystals!) and her audience has grown with her!
I would recommend starting out with some earlier episodes to get into it and working your way through, as some of the later shows could be a little bit out there if you're new!
I absolutely love the new direction her show has taken and it has added so much to my life, but it may take some easing into for some people! The great thing about Jess is that she shares a lot of interesting ideas, but is totally open to you taking what you want and what resonates with you, and leaving the rest!
Take a look at Episode #281 for a great introduction where Jess welcomes new listeners and introduces them to the different facets of the show with suggestions on where to get started!
2) The Kelly Trach Show
I found Kelly through an online course run by Jess Lively and The Kelly Trach Show quickly became my favourite podcast - it's the one I will always listen to first, as soon as it's updated!
I really relate to Kelly, so her podcast always feels like a conversation with a friend
(you know, one of those friends who has that sparkly, high-vibe, awesome energy that always makes you feel really fab!)
In Kelly's words, she's "an author, coach and eternal optimist" and her podcast shares "lessons to elevate your life, reclaim your personal power and truly awaken and transform."
As you can see from that summary, it's a very positive, uplifting show and Kelly definitely has a way with words! I just love how she explains things in an entertaining and fun way that's also really practical too!
Starting off in the wellness/healing realm, she's now moved into talking about topics in the mindset/self-development zone (with a little spiritual twist thrown in) and the podcast is a mix of interviews and solo shows.
It's uplifting, funny and full of great tools and strategies to help you master your mindset and create a life you truly love!
3) At Home With...
At Home With is hosted by two of my favourite lifestyle Youtubers/Bloggers - Anna of The Anna Edit and Lily Pebbles.
It's a really fun show where they visit inspiring women in the comfort of their homes and have a chat about their life and how they got to where they are.
They interview the likes of brand founders, editors, bloggers... women who are just doing cool stuff who have created some really interesting careers for themselves!
They also talk about interior styling - describing the setting they're in as they move from room to room in the homes of the person they're interviewing. It's a really fun and different concept allowing you a kind of "sneak peak" into their life in a way you wouldn't normally get in a a standard interview. It's an interesting twist if you're a fan of interior design (as I am!) and you can see photos of these lovely homes if you listen via the acast app.
One of my favourite episodes was a Season 1 Episode 3 - a conversation with Terry de Gunzburg - founder of the incredible beauty brand By Terry.
4) The Simple Sophisticate
The best way I can think of to describe The Simple Sophisticate podcast is as a "cozy treat". Kind of like curling up with a good book or a fave magazine, but in podcast form!
Hosted by Shanon Ables, the blogger behind
The Simply Luxurious Life, her podcast pairs "intelligent living with signature style".
An English teacher by day, Shannon shares her love of reading, the French culture, style, food, travel, interior design and her tips on living - as she calls it - "simply luxuriously - on an everyday income."
Her podcast is intelligent, insightful and a really fun mix as it touches on a wide variety of topics that I love and that are probably of interest to you too if you're a reader of my own blog!
Th podcast mostly consists of solo shows with a few interviews once in a while and always ends with a "Petit Plaisir" - (a recommendation for a simple pleasure such as a book, a film, a recipe...anything to make the everyday more enjoyable).
5) Adventures in Happiness
Adventures in Happiness is one I've dipped in and out of over the years but that always lifts me up whenever I listen to it.
Jessica Ortner is the host and she's charming, funny and an excellent interviewer!
She chats with a whole range of people in the self-development world (many of whom are authors) and explores topics around "spirituality, productivity, and personal fulfilment", sharing tips to help you feel your best "within all of life's complexities".
It's a great one and I really love the tag line; "happiness is not a destination - it's an adventure!"
So those are my five recommendations! Of course I do have many other podcasts that I love, but these are the ones I've been listening to the most right now. I tend to go through phases where I gravitate towards a particular genre and really dive deep, and at the moment I am loving all the self-help stuff!
I'd love to know if you give any of these a listen and your thoughts on them, so leave me a comment below or come say hi over on Instagram @laurennatalia29 :)
I'm always up for new podcast recommendations too so let me know your favourites! - I'm open to any genre!
Lots of Love
Lauren
