Melbourne Travel Diary - Day 1

Helloo :)

So I've finally found a bit of time to sit down and put together the photos from our trip to Melbourne. I can't believe a whole month has passed since we were there - time really has been flying by so crazy quickly this year...

We arrived in Melbourne super early on Thursday morning, and after dropping our bags off at the hotel we started exploring. We were both in a slightly zombie-like state, thanks to night of very little sleep, but it was fun strolling around as the city was slowly waking up and coming to life.

We found a cozy little cafe to sit down in and enjoyed a lovely breakfast and a cup of coffee that Melbourne is so famous for.

After breakfast we decided to have a wander over to the Queen Victoria Market. The stalls were still being set up as we arrived and it was great just strolling around as all the fresh fruit and vegetable stalls were being set up.

How cute are these cat face bags... my favourite is the grumpy cat!

Tom stopping for more coffee...

There were so many cute cacti for sale! Unfortunately I couldn't buy one as we wouldn't have been able to bring it back to Perth, but a cactus or two is definitely on my list of things to get for the apartment!

After spending a good few hours walking around the Markets, we then headed to have a look at the shops.

I hadn't been to Melbourne since I was about 10 years old so it was lovely just being able to walk around and take it all in. It's such a pretty city with a mix of beautiful old and new buildings. I love that there are trees around in the middle of the city, and for some reason the fact that the taxi's are all yellow makes me very happy! :)

By this point Tom and I were both feeling pretty exhausted so we headed back to our hotel.

The view from our room was pretty awesome!

After a quick nap (we pretty much hadn't slept all night so it was necessary) we were ready to head out for dinner.

We went to Mamasita, a mexican restaurant that just happened to be up the road from our hotel. The food was delicious and I definitely recommend it if you're visiting Melbourne and love Mexican food!

So that was our first day :)

More photos to come!

Have you been to Melbourne? What are your favourite things to do there?

My Style Diary - Black, Grey and a Little Bit of Tie-Dye

Hello Hello!

Gosh it feels like ages since I've sat down to write a post! Life has been rather exciting lately and I just haven't had time to blog (well, the lack of blogging is also partly due to boring things... like having to write job applications... ugh... but let's focus on the fun bits)

The weekend before last, Tom and I took a little trip to Melbourne and spent four lovely days exploring the city. I hadn't been there since I was about 10 years old, so it was a great little adventure and felt awesome to just get away for a few days. Once I sort through all my photos there will definitely be a Melbourne post up, but for today I have an outfit to share with you.

These photos are from our last day in Melbourne. We spent the morning at the Queen Victoria Markets before catching a train to Lygon Street and visiting Brunetti's, and then just strolling around some pretty residential streets. We did so much walking over those four days - it really is the best way to explore a place.

With all the walking we were doing, I obviously kept the footwear very comfortable and my cons got a good work out. It was also chilly enough to pull out this beanie which hasn't been getting much use in Perth yet (it was a beautiful sunny 25 degrees today... definitely not beanie weather!)

A neutral colour palette is always best when travelling so I stuck with my failsafe black jeans and jacket, adding a little bit of fun with this scarf. I love that it's pretty neutral, but also adds some interest with the cool tie-dye pattern.

A cross body bag is another holiday necessity and my usual black Jigsaw bag did the trick. I'm a little disappointed with this bag though because I've only had it for around two years and at the airport on the way home both straps broke! They'd been looking a little worn but I wasn't expecting the stitching to completely give way as it did... luckily it held out until we were heading home!

Anyway, I hope you've been having a fabulous Thursday! :)

What are your holiday outfit essentials?

April in Pictures

Where on earth is the year going? It seems to be flying by so quickly!

Here's a look at a few things I've been up to in April:

It's been a pretty cool month, with Tom and I getting settled into our new place. We haven't quite got everything sorted yet, but things are slowly coming together.

The only part of the apartment that is completely done is the kitchen and we've been having fun cooking a little more instead of going out to eat like we usually do. I've particularly been enjoying using my new "Nutri Ninja" and have been going a bit crazy making smoothies! (Recipes will be making their way to the blog soon I'm sure!)

Long walks through King's Park, by the river and around UWA have also become part of our weekend routine. It's such a great way to start off the day and the weather's been pretty perfect for it (nice job Perth!)

With two long weekends this month I had a great excuse to finally sit down and enjoy a lazy afternoon reading a book. We still don't have internet yet which has been a little annoying (and is the reason why it's been a bit quiet on the blogging front this month), but it has been a great way to force me back into the habit of reading. Not that I need much forcing, but it's taken away the distraction of Instagram/email/youtube etc and helped me get back into something that I love but just don't do enough of!

Oh and I also dressed up as Princess Leia for a Star Wars themed party! (On that note - anyone else excited for the new Star Wars movie coming out soon? I can't wait!)

I hope April's been great for you!

(a very belated) March in Pictures

Well... April has been a rather dismal month blog wise but actually a very exciting one in terms of life events - which is why this post is so late! I couldn't skip this one though because March was such an exciting time for Tom and myself and I wanted to have this little collage of pictures here on the blog to look back on!

If you've read my previous blog post you'll know that in March we got the keys to our very own apartment! As you can imagine we were pretty excited about this and most of the month was spent organising all things home related.

We currently have very little furniture, but a rather large and overflowing collection of mugs!

We do actually have a dining table now but it was fun having picnics on the floor the first few nights! That picture above was taken on the first night we spent there - watching Gilmore Girls and eating pizza ;)

Other fun things in March included catching up with friends over a delicious brunch, strolling around Fremantle and stumbling upon a second-hand book sale one weekend morning.

A pretty awesome month really :)

Exciting News!

Hello Hello!

So, now that I'm done with my random little morning musings (see last post if you don't know what I'm talking about), I thought that since I'm awake, now would be a good time to share with you why my blog has been a little neglected over the past month.

The reason is actually very exciting (and totally given away by the photo above!)

 ***drumroll***

Tom and I now have the keys to our own apartment!

Crazy!!!

( I definitely have some crazy eyes going on in that photo!)

Anyway...

It's been a very exciting few weeks, but also a little hectic trying to get everything organised (hence the blog neglect the past month)

In some ways it's been a long time coming - we spent months and months house hunting, going to home opens every weekend and despairing that we'd never find the right place (well that was just me to be honest, but even Tom did find it a bit draining after a while). Once we found our place though, time just seems to have flown by and I can't believe we actually have the keys and are officially the owners of a cute little 2 bedroom flat!

We haven't actually moved in yet, given that we currently have zero furniture, Tom being away at work and the fact that we only just got our fridge delivered (kinda hard to move in somewhere if you don't have a fridge!)

I'm so excited though - we now have a little place of our own. Our own space to do up and make comfortable and home-y, and it's just generally really exciting to be starting this whole new chapter of our lives.

It's safe to say there will probably be a few more home decor related posts appearing on the blog in the next few months (I have been going pinterest crazy!)

Let me know if there's any particular home related posts you're interested in seeing or if you have any tips on moving! I'd love to hear your advice :)

I hope you have any amazing day!

Lots of Love
