Hello Hello!
Today I’m sharing 4 comfy, casual outfits that I wore back in April when Tom and I headed down to Margaret River for a long weekend. The point of this particular trip was just to have a super relaxing time together, with the main activities being eating, chilling at the house reading and a few bush walks or strolls along the beach.
I thought I’d share the super easy but still pulled together outfits I wore while we were away, because even though they’re pretty simple, I love being able to throw together comfy but still nice looks so you can feel pulled together, no matter how low-key the occasion is!
The 11 items I packed are staple pieces in my winter wardrobe and most I’ve had for years.
As I’ve said time and time again, creating a well thought out, well-edited wardrobe (regardless of whether it’s a “capsule wardrobe” or something larger) filled with staple pieces that you love and work with your signature style, means getting dressed (and packing particularly) becomes super easy. Very little thought or pre-planning is required - you just know things go together and will look good even when they’re just thrown on (or into a suitcase) quickly!
If you’d like more tips on how to actually create this well-edited, clutter free wardrobe that perfectly suits your signature style, check out my free How To Find Your Style course - I’ve had some great feedback lately saying it’s been really helpful to people!

Look 1: The Comfy Travel Outfit
Nothing could be comfier than a pair of leggings and a tank top, with a soft chambray shirt thrown over the top for a little warmth and added interest. It’s not the most stylish of outfits, but paired with a cute scarf in my hair, a delicate necklace and my rose gold watch, I still felt nice rather than slobby!

Look 2: Overalls and A Cozy Jumper
As you know, I love my overalls and the cute/quirky vibe they give off. Paired with this cozy burgundy jumper it was a perfect relaxed outfit to wear out to breakfast at The Bakery.
I was using my pink leather backpack that I bought while in Italy, so rather than wearing my trainers, I decided to throw on my pointed black ballet flats. Overalls plus trainers and a back pack was just a little too childish and “Dora The Explorer” (even for me) so the pointed flats kept the outfit looking at least a little more grown up!

Look 3: The Trusty Jumper and Jeans Combo
This is one of my favourite outfit combo’s. Even though it’s super simple, there’s something about the simplicity that I feel is so stylish (if I do say so myself, lol :p …others might think it’s boring or nothing much, but I feel good in it, and that’s what matters right?)
My style Pinterest boards are always full of these kind of super simple looks. It’s all about the little details when it comes to these kinda outfits - the light blue denim wash, the delicate gold necklace against the navy jumper, pointed black ballet flats that make the look a little more sophisticated… small things like that.
I realised the other day that I’m someone who really notices the little details. I always used to think they don’t make much difference to an outfit, but recently I’ve found that it’s these little touches that people add to an outfit that I’m always admiring and appreciating (even if most people don’t notice them!)
Case in point would be my delicate YCL Jewels necklaces. I have had SO many compliments when I wear them! Even though they are so subtle, multiple people have complimented me on them and asked where they are from!

Look 4: Leather Jacket and Colourful Scarf
Lastly we have another relaxed outfit, this time with the blue jeans paired with the burgundy jumper. Soft cozy knits are all I want to wear when it’s cold and this jumper has been one of my favourites all winter. I threw on my trusty leather jacket and this super thick and warm scarf. I love the colours and how it can brighten up an outfit, while still being really functional! I get very cold so having a nice scarf to wrap up in is always a must when I’m packing for a cooler weather trip (and just in my winter wardrobe in general!) It was perfect for a very blustery walk along the beach!

So there you have it - 4 comfy outfits for a weekend away! I’d love to know which one is your favourite look? I think it’s a draw between Look 2 and Look 3 for me.
I feel like the pieces I packed are the perfect base for a winter capsule wardrobe. They’re versatile, can be dressed up and down (depending on the shoes you wear/accessories you pair them with) and can be mixed and matched easily, so if you’re looking to try being a little more minimal and feel like doing a capsule wardrobe experiment, these are the staple pieces I would definitely include:
2 Jumpers that can be dressed up or down
1 Pair of Blue Jeans
1 Pair of Overalls (could substitute for a black pair of jeans)
2 Pairs of Shoes - a casual pair (trainers) and a more dressy option (black ballet flats)
Leggings
Tank Top
Chambray Shirt
Leather Jacket
Scarf
If you like this kind of thing I’d also recommend checking out the #10x10challenge hashtag on Instagram for more inspiration! I’ve never officially done a 10x10 challenge before but I do like playing around and seeing how many different outfits I can create with a small number of pieces so I might join in someday!
As always I’d love for you to leave a comment or come say hi on Insta @laurennatalia.co and tell me what your top winter wardrobe staple is!
Lots of Love
