My Style Diary - Day and Night

Hello hello :)

Let me introduce you to my new favourite top, which I recently picked up from Sportsgirl.

I'd been eyeing it for months, waiting for it to go on sale (the bargain hunter in me wouldn't let me spend $79), so when I saw it the other day for almost 60% off, I pounced!

I love the bright aqua colour, the floral pattern and the soft billowy fabric. Also the fact that it reminds me of when I was younger, and I desperately wanted one of those crop tops that tied in the front. Do you know the style I mean? Anyway,  I never had one of those tops, but this is my "grown up" version.

I wore the bottom outfit out for dinner on Saturday night where I caught up with my best friend from uni, who I hadn't seen in far too long. We had a great night catching up over delicious Japanese and bubble tea. I can't say I miss being at uni, but I do miss our trips to Utopia for Bubble tea (it used to be a verrry frequent occurrence).

Then on Sunday, I just switched the jeans for white shorts and headed to King's Park for a picnic with friends. Very easy! (and lazy of me)

All in all it was a great weekend :)

I'm also happy to say that Monday is over! Yay! I don't know what it is, but it seems that as soon as Monday is done, the whole week just passes by much more pleasantly. Anyone agree with me?

I hope you're having a great night.

Lots of Love

My Style Diary - Red Dress and Cranberry Eyes

Good morning! :)

Firstly, let's just address the fact that yes, my legs are ghostly white, and I desperately need a little sun/fake tan! The other day, my dad actually said to me my legs were so white I looked anaemic! (He meant it in a caring way I'm sure... :p)

Anyway, I wore this out for dinner with Tom the other night. We don't often go out on "dates", so it was fun to have the chance to dress up a little! I love the colour of this dress (even though it does seem to emphasise my ghostliness), and it's one of those dresses that is just easy to throw on, so you can look put together without really trying (as you can probably tell, I'm all about that!)

I had a bit of fun with my makeup that night too, playing around with some new eyeshadows. I usually tend to stick to neutral, more natural looks, but I felt like experimenting, so this is what I came up with! :)

Anyway, have a lovely Sunday!

Reminiscing and Rambling

Hello :)

Today it's been exactly one year since I finished uni, and I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Not nostalgic for my uni days (I don't think any dentist ever wishes to be be back at dental school), but for that feeling of absolute freedom I had when I'd just finished. It was a day we'd all been counting down to for ages and I

can't believe a year has already passed!

* * *

My group was down in Bunbury on our rural rotation. After seeing our last patient's,  we filmed some clips for the Final Year video - dancing to Gangnam Style - but with the lyrics changed to "Gum Numb Style". It was a pretty hilarious and very memorable way to end the last day of an extremely long and hard 5 years!

I then headed down to Margaret River where I was meeting up with my family. We had an absolutely perfect weekend... probably one of the best of my life because I just felt so... free. Lunch at Aravina, one of the beautiful wineries, relaxing at the house, bush walks, and walks along the beach. It was perfect :)

* * *

Anyway... I just wanted to write a little something about that weekend because just thinking about it makes me smile. It also makes me think about how different this year has been. It's been great not having to study and I've had so much more free time than I ever have (even when working almost full time), but I kind of feel like I haven't taken full advantage of it.

I haven't been very productive.

While I was still at uni, I had big plans for what I was going to do afterwards. Learn Italian... get fit... get back into dancing again... pick up my cello, just

do

stuff...

But I feel like I haven't really accomplished all that much, and not for lack of time.

All my life I've always had some big goal that I was working towards, and lately (well, this whole year), I've been feeling a little unmotivated, lost even, because I don't know what I want to do next. So I've just been floating and letting life pass me by. I keep flitting from one idea to another, not taking any action and actually just getting started with something.

I think what it all comes down to is that I still haven't found "my passion", the thing I really love doing.

Part of my problem is that

I have this idea in my head that once I start something, I absolutely have to finish it. I can't decide "I don't like this/want to do this anymore" and just quit.  I've always been like that (it's how I managed to get through dentistry even though there were many many times when I considered just giving up and doing something else), and being persistent is probably a good trait, but it's also been holding me back because I'm reluctant to try something if I'm not certain I will enjoy it.

I realise that is silly though - how are you ever going to find out what you do/don't like if you don't give things a go? So I've been brainstorming and setting out some goals for myself. I'm still working on it, but I'm feeling much more positive and excited about life now!

One of the things that I am pretty happy about is the fact that I actually started this blog! It's been a fun hobby, but I still feel uncomfortable telling people about it. That's another thing I need to work on - not caring so much about what other people think! Ah well... baby steps... I'll get there eventually! :)

I'll leave it at that for tonight. This post actually turned out to be a lot longer and more rambly than intended... but it's kind of been therapeutic, actually writing my thoughts down! (Well done if you managed to get this far)

Anyway, I hope you're having a lovely Saturday night!

Lots of Love

My Style Diary - Fashionable Flamingos

Hello!

I hope you've had a great start to the week :)

I have to say I'm glad Monday is over! Despite the fact that I enjoy my job,  and n

o matter how much I try to convince myself that "Monday is a great day",  a "new start",

Monday mornings are always hard, and it's always nice to see the end of them. The rest of the week seems much more manageable once Monday is over! (...Maybe one day I will learn to like them).

Anyway... This is what I wore on the weekend. I've had this flamingo printed top for years and still love it just as much now as I did when I first bought it. It's such a fun, summery print. Pink and green is a combination I've always loved, and I think this top ties the two colours together perfectly. Paired with white shorts (one of my summer staples), it's a perfect outfit for a scorching hot day.

It's probably not the best to wear if you're going for a walk and just happen to stumble upon a Mulberry tree though... (which is what we did). I was very careful though and managed not to get any purple stains on my white shorts!

Mulberry picking makes me so nostalgic... It's one of those things that just makes me think of summer holidays gone by :)

My Style Diary - Batik Florals

Heya!

Happy Saturday! I'm so glad it's finally the weekend :)

I haven't been up to all that much today. Just got back from having some yummy Japanese for lunch with Tom, and now enjoying having a lovely lazy day. I think I might go and read outside after this, although it's actually really lovely up here in my room right now. In the spring, when the trees are all beautiful and bushy and green, it kind of feels like I'm up in a tree house. It's funny though, when I was studying, I would gaze outside, wishing I was anywhere but at my desk, but now, I'm finding it to be quite relaxing just sitting here, typing away :)

Anyway, this is what I wore last Saturday when I went out for dinner with my friends.

I'm so in love with this maxi skirt from Tigerlily. The gorgeous batik floral design, the colour, the cut, the swishy-ness.. it's just perfection :)

I'd had my eye on this for ages. Every time I walked past the store I would go in and look at it, never letting myself try it on... but eventually I caved... and finally ended up walking out with it.

I've been looking for the perfect top to pair it with, and it's been surprisingly difficult to find what I'm looking for. All the tops I've tried have been either too loose, too tight, too low backed, too sheer (or maybe I'm just being fussy). I still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet,

but I decided this black singlet (which I've had for years), would do for now.

That's it for today, I hope you're enjoying this beautiful Saturday!
